The ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN has long felt a strong hatred against the UNITED STATES (Little Satan) and SAUDI ARABIA. Beginning in 2011 Iran’s hate spilled onto the Cyber front with two very well coordinated State Sponsored attacks. Attacks that left Saudi Arabia reeling and suffering tens of billions of dollars in lost production and revenue. These attacks also left the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE scrambling to defend against a potential disaster on the Cyber front.
Author J. Luis Rico leads the reader through the high wire Cyber world of State Sponsored attacks and retaliation. His expert attention to detail reveals exactly how these attacks occur and how they are defended against. Real world examples of SQL injection attacks, real world Active Directory database decryption exploits and lateral movement using dedicated and specialized hacker tools are accurately woven into the Cyber thriller. This is a must read Cyber Thriller if you are an IT professional. It is a page turning education in how bad guys attack on the Cyber front; their methods, their tools and their process. It is also an exceptionally well written thriller that stands on its own separate from the IT practitioner audience.

Full Disclosure: Al is a friend and former co-worker of mine, but that doesn't change this review. Fantastic book! The author is in the IT field and it shows. Descriptions and technical details are accurate, and the scenarios are quite believable. Fascinating read! I dinged it one star for minor grammatical errors (partial sentences following full sentences). Much improved in books 2 and 3.Product details

Cyber War State Sponsored series part one edition by J Luis Rico Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A fantastic read with solid knowledge, realism and excitement. This book shouldn't be cornered in any single genre. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Although this book is a good read for a general audience, it is a great read if you are an IT practitioner, particularly if you work with systems at risk. I found the description of events to be realistic even if fictionalized. The story attempts to balance real-world events, people, places, and technology with enough fictionalization to give the reader a complete picture. I'm going to hazard a guess that the story is, in reality, balanced far more towards the side of fact rather than fiction.
Aside from being a short, fun read, the book is a great primer on practical information security in today's world. Far too often information security and cyberwar has been either cast as monotonous, pointless drudgery or as high drama on movies and TV. In the real world it is both. Gaining a CISSP or Security+ certification may be somewhat monotonous, but realizing that the monotony actually does have a point is part of what the reader can see through this book. I encourage IT and IA folks to take the time to read this book. It will do more for your mindset than dozens of books, bulletins, and courseware ever will.
Finally, I should disclose that Al is a good friend of mine. Good job, Al!
Gripping novel, detail is so close to truth you don't realize it's fiction. Highly recommend if you have a military background, or not for that matter.
Great read. Growing tension, intrigue, wonder.
Incremental steps, challenges, tests and success by Iran and sloppiness by the US made me want to go check my systems.
A little techie, but even through that it was a great read! This creation gives real insight to the implications of cyber warfare and how it might effect our lives.
Total geek porn, if you are interested in Cybersecurity this book goes into accurate technical details about how a cyber attack could happen. Mix in some good writing and it made for a good story.
This book will have you glued. Story line is very well laid out with great details and description of events. This book is a great read with a unexpected twist at the end. I would definitely recommend this book.
