Books depicting medieval time period appeal to me mostly because of all the preconceived notions people of that time used to have, i.e. red hair or writing with left hand was considered the sigh of Devil or their healing practices and so forth. This book had many such things plus constant suspense about the identity of the killer, and reasons behind the assaults on the main heroine made this book a good read for me.Dawn is voiceless, has always been like this and has accepted her lot. People who surround her are superstitious and don't treat her well. I liked her for being brave and not being a doormat. She stood up for herself and was very kind and forgiving. Everything changed for her with the arrival of Cree. Cree could be considered an obnoxious possessive alpha male but thinking about the time period of the book I let it slide - it didn't bother me much that he ordered Dawn around, it never felt malicious just a tad arrogant.
Cree was on the way to have a home and a title. He worked hard, fought many battles for it all to be lost because of a woman and a voiceless one at that. But the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what starts as a convenient arrangement with a plain woman with no voice turns into passionate and loving relationship with spirited and alluring highland lass.
There is plenty of intrigue, villains and questions that kept me guessing. It was well-written fast-paced romance with interesting plot and diverse characters. I loved it! I highly recommend it!

Forbidden Highlander Highlander Trilogy Book 2 edition by Donna Fletcher Romance eBooks Reviews
I loved these two books. I really enjoyed the story of Dawn and Cree. I loved now playful Cree became with Dawn. He first thought he would never love anyone and then when he did love Donna he became a completely different person around her. He was playful and smiled, and let go most of the time. I like it when a harden, feared, warrior changes and shows a sweet tender side to the woman he loves. I will say they were having sex a lot. Not that it was always descripted. Personally I like the sex scenes. I disagree with the reviewers that feel that sex that often is impossible. They obviously have not been with the right person, and some people are just more sexual than others. She does not put that much sex in her books so this one is different in that respect from the other 4 I read.
As far as the story goes there is a lot going on. I have no issue with that, however some people find it too much. I enjoyed figuring out who was behind trying to kill Dawn. I would have liked to have known who Sloan marries since it states that his son will marry Cree's daughter. Maybe we will find out in the next book with Cree's sister. It is probably going to be Lucerne once she is straighten out from all the stuff that was given to her and becomes a normal person.
As far as the writing errors, they are not that bad, and I hate all the complaints. You shouldn't have to re-read things as people state in their reviews. It is easy to understand what they meant. There are some, but not as many as people make it seem.
Sex content medium/high.
Enjoyed the story...but, there were major grammar/spelling errors throughout the book, detracting from the story. You have to re-read passages to understand what the author was writing. If it had been properly edited I would have given it five stars (I really liked the story), but the errors made it difficult to fully enjoy. Also, if you buy this book you will HAVE to buy the second book (in the trilogy) because the first ends abruptly with way too much unfinished. Unlike a real trilogy where each book can stand on its own, the first book cannot. It felt like a sneaky way to get $15 for one book by breaking it into three $4.99 releases. I felt manipulated/cheated by this. At 4.99 for a book without a real ending and requiring purchase of another book I would pass on this book - especially given the poor editing (or lack thereof).
I liked the storyline as well as the characters in the first book of the trilogy so much that I had to purchase the next part to find out who was trying to murder our selfless mute heroine, Dawn; who found love with the much feared hero, Cree.
I was disappointed in this book, and for the first time ever, in this author. There should not have been a part 2 to the Cree and Dawn storyline, as too much was just "filler" sex to extend the book. It could have been wrapped up in book 1.
The first, and last chapter tell the story! Everything in between is gratuitous sex. I mean 3-4 times every day! I was so aggravated, that I was skipping over the sex to get to the story! I'm no prude, but I found myself saying "not again." I was greatful that Dawn was mute, so I didn't have to read about any vocal responses......his one sided conversations were bad enough!
I will buy the last book in this series, but only because the main storyline is about a secondary character mentioned in the first 2 books. Also, because I really have always enjoyed this author's books. I just pray that this heroine (brought up in a convent) is not as sex-crazed as her sister-in-Law in this book!
